A close friend of mine today complimented me on how healthy my hair looks so I decided to share one of my secrets to growing my hair long. I have struggled with thin fragile hair my entire life. At age 41, I now have the thickest and longest hair I have ever had. Here is the recipe I have been using as a deep conditioning hot oil treatment.1.5 ounces of castor oil (about 45 cc) – pure and cold pressed.0.5 ounces of argon oil (about 15 cc)4 drops of rosemary oil (approximately)4 drops of lavender oil (approximately)1 two ounce bottle with dropper top (about 60 cc)
I purchased all of the supplies I needed at the local health food store. Fill the two ounce bottle about 3/4 full with castor oil. Top off with argon oil and then add a few drops of rosemary and lavender oil. The measurements do not need to be exact. Place cap on bottle and shake well to mix ingredients together. To simplify it is 3 parts castor oil and 1 part argon oil with a few drops of rosemary and lavender oil.
Place oil bottle in a small bowl of hot water to heat oil slightly. Apply about 1 dropper full (for shoulder length hair – use more for longer hair) into your palm and rub into to damp towel dried hair once a week prior to washing. Apply liberally to the ends of the hair and massage lightly into the roots as well. Wrap hair in towel and leave in for a minimum of 1 hour. You can also put on a shower cap and leave it on overnight. Wash with a gentle shampoo and condition hair as usual. If you have very dry and fragile hair as I do you may want to just rinse hair then condition as usual. This hair oil will deeply penetrate your hair and protect it by coating it with a shield. Avoid using a blow dryer or other high heat on your hair as this will add to the dryness. You will start noticing less breakage and split ends in as little as 1 or 2 treatments.
